One of our first Hey Nancy! projects was helping Steph from Mama Heart to Hearts create a cozy neutral space for the newest addition to her family. Steph is such a sweet and encouraging friend and when she asked us to help her create a space in her home for her baby boy, we were so excited! Helping Steph with this space was so much fun - it truly was an honor to be entrusted with creating a special room for her new son, Henrik.
Before: The Tollette's had a room in their house they weren't using for anything. It served as a overflow space for their oldest son's clothes and toys but we basically had a blank slate to work with.
Considerations: The space was relatively small (10x10) and Steph wanted to keep the spend around $500. She already had a white crib and changing table.
Inspiration: The words Steph used to describe her ideal space were: clean, neutral, and fresh. She wanted the room to be calming and something her baby could grow with. She also had a little stuffed bunny which we used as inspiration for the rest of the space.
Here's the mood board that we put together for Steph:
We also provided floor plans, wall plans, and links to all recommended products.
To bring Steph's clean, neutral, and fresh dreams to life, the walls were painted Benjamin Moore Huron White and sheer white window treatments were hung. It's amazing how different the room looked after just making those two changes.
A large grey rug adds texture and coziness. Floating wood shelves showcase a sweet ultrasound photo, the stuffed bunny that inspired the space, and an 'H' for Henrik. A faux fiddle fig tree brings color and life, and the large round mirror above the changing table makes the room feel larger, and is the perfect spot for baby + mama mirror selfies. A rattan lamp adds beautiful ambiance at night.
We couldn't love this sweet space any more. It came together so well. We would love to know what you think in the comments below! Steph is truly one of the sweetest people I know and she writes about all things motherhood at Mama Heart to Hearts, be sure to check her blog out!
